Yesterday was our annual cookie making party.
Carolyn and I have been doing this for many years, with various other players...though the core group has now identified itself as Car, Heather, El and me.
We make ridiculous amounts of cookies in a very short period of time.
Here is what was on our docket for this year...and an estimate of what we actually made
Chocolate Krinkles 7 dozen MADE
Peanut Blossoms 6 dozen MADE
Sour Cream Frosted 6 dozen MADE
Corn Flake Wreaths 4 dozen MADE
Oatmeal Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip 6 dozen MADE
Buckeyes 7 dozen MADE
Chocolate Bark 3 DIFFERENT KINDS 3 large pans MADE
Gingerbread (with frosting) 6 dozen MADE
Bars (okay Carolyn made these Saturday night) 3 13 x 9 pans MADE
That equals 42 DOZEN cookies (504), plus bars plus bark.
We then divided everything up...we each came home with an insane amount of homemade sweet goodness. Ellen was so good, she packaged hers up as gifts for co-workers. I am taking mine to Cape Cod on Friday...after I share a goodly amount with my office mates.
The thing is we have gotten this cookie think down to a science. We each bring the dough for 2 cookies and ingredients for communal connoctions (like the chocolate bark) are divided up amongst the group. So, we don't spend a ton of cash and all reap the benefits. Plus, did I mention the 80's music jam session and serious laughter that went on all day.
It is no wonder it is one of my favorite days of the year...and why I start wanting to plan it in October.
The incredible adventures of two ladies in and around the City of Brotherly Love.
